MacIsaac & Company, located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is committed to providing the very best in Celtic-themed fashion, décor, music, and dance. We do what we do because we love our heritage, our culture, and our traditions.
We care deeply about providing quality in everything we offer. Whether you are making arrangements to host a special Celtic or Scottish event, or hope to attend one in style, we have custom-designed garments available for rent or for purchase, as well as event supplies and decor. Think of us as your one-stop-shop. We have the skills and people to make your Celtic gathering an occasion to remember. Let us help assemble the performers who will ensure you’ll have a truly excellent party. Our rental business is based in Halifax, but our products are shipped all over the world. When you work with us, your garments will fit impeccably; we’ll make sure you are fitted out with exquisite accessories as well.
Are you proud of your heritage? At MacIsaac & Company, we are, too. You’ll find us embracing tartan not because it is trendy, or beautiful (though it can be both), but because we honour its heritage, and its legacy. You will marvel at the ways in which tartan can help you express who you are through colour, pattern, and family history. Tartan doesn’t need to be preserved under glass, for within this tradition there is plenty of room for fresh ideas and innovation. Let us help you find that perfect mix, whether it’s for your once-in-a-lifetime wedding, or your very special occasion-in-the making.

THE TEAM
Veronica was born into Canada’s Celtic culture as she grew up surrounded by sewing machines, patterns and fabrics as her mother crafted outfits for Veronica’s highland dancewear and kilts for her brother, noted piper Matt MacIsaac. The MacIsaacs, in both professional and competitive capacities, have been a consistent presence at highland games and gatherings in Canada and abroad. It was this familiar environment that spurred Veronica’s interest in creating modern, wearable clothing that proudly announces the wearer’s own heritage and style. Each piece is a uniquely personal creation, planned, pinned, produced and perfected in her studio. Veronica's collections have graced runways and shows in many places in the world (including NYC and Switzerland), and have been featured in widely-read publications (including British Vogue).
Veronica's great grandfather was Black Jack MacDonald - a well known piper, and Pipe Major for the Cape Breton Highlanders; he piped the troops onto the battlefield in WWI. He met his love in England during the war, and brought her back to Soldier's Cove, Cape Breton, where they raised their family. This started a long line of Pipers and Highland Dancers spanning several generations. Today, all 4 members of Veronica's family (herself, parents, and brother) make their living in the Celtic Arts. |
Born in Connecticut, Matthew began piping at the age of eight, after hearing them played at a festival. A successful solo competitive career led him to be promoted to Open (Professional) status at age eighteen. Matthew began attending the Gaelic College in St. Ann's, Cape Breton at age 12 and went on to play with the Gaelic College Pipe Band and later the Halifax Police (Grade 1). Matthew was the President and Pipe Major for the Stuart Highlanders, as well as Pipe Sergeant and Quartermaster for the Worcester Kilties Pipe Band for several years, including in 2016 when they won the World Pipe Band Championships in Grade 3A. He has taught many pipe bands, all over the United States. Phelps has played at several thousand events, including weddings, funerals, performances with the Boston Symphony, the Landmark Orchestra, at the Basel Tattoo, and at the United States, North American, Australian, United Kingdom, Australian, and World Pipe Band Championships.
Matthew has a B.F.A. in Creative Writing from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in North Carolina. He has worked making knives, as an antler gatherer, in construction, for a celtic music record label, for a wedding invitation company, and as a machine operator making mascara brushes. He has lived in Connecticut, Nova Scotia, North Carolina, Alaska, northern Italy, and Massachusetts. |
